First sunshine in Tuscany by the pool at Fattoria del Colle

The Spring time with its sunshine coming and going has arrived in Tuscany, but the swimming pool at Fattoria del Colle has been anticipated .The water is cold , but is however “scenographic”
<<I’ll book only if the pool is open>> writes one of our guests from Germany. The park around the pool will also be the location of parties and for a wedding today. In other word the country inn at Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda the pools have been opened 15 days earlier than usual.

from the image they have of Italy as being a place with a very hot climate, nearly African. In truth, in the Tuscan hills, during the day it can be sunny but at night it is still cool so the temperature of the water in the pools dies not go above 15° C and to bathe in it means risking pneumonia.
However the opening of the pool does mean the end of the winter and the beginning of a sun tan, as beside the pool is good place to relax amidst nature. So here we are in the park by the pools with all around us a splendid panorama of Val d’Orcia with our golden retriever Felix rolling about in the grass.
The sun beds are ready for guests and the gardeners are seeing to the flowerbeds ruined by last winter’s snow.
Terrible surprises: the oleanders have died and will not be sprouting from the roots. One and a half metres of snow have really been too much for them!
