Casato Prime Donne Award

The Casato Prime Donne award was established in 1999 as a development of the Barbi Colombini Prize. It takes place every year in Montalcino and rewards the best journalistic and photographic contribution concerning the Brunello territory and wine.
Among the winners are the most important journalists and photographers published in the main national and international papers.

The jury comprising Francesca Colombini (president), Stefania Rossini, Rosy Bindi, Anselma Dell’Olio, Anna Scafuri, Daniela Viglione and Anna Pesenti  selects every year a female figure who is particularly distinguished for her courage and ethical values and whose commitment has enhanced the female presence in society and the working world.

The rigorous, courageous choices  of the jury have transformed the Premio Casato Prime Donne into an important stage for the female universe casting light on personalities, tendencies and problems.

The competition is divided into five sections; the winning piece of four of the sections is chosen by the jury while the photographs are subjected to the vote of a virtual jury, via the web. The prize-giving ceremony takes place in the rooms of the Montalcino Town Hall and in the estates of Donatella Cinelli Colombini. The wineries of Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino and Fattoria Del Colle in Treqjuanda are together with the Consorzio del Brunello the main sponsors of this prize.

The winners are awarded, apart from money, bottles of Brunello and a week’s stay in the agriturismo, an opportunity for many  journalists, particularly foreign ones to permanently consolidate the links that tie them to this territory.
